The Visual Spectrum
The cells of the human eye are designed to process the full spectrum on natural light. The various cells in the human eye (called photoreceptors) work together to process visual information. There are cells in the eye that are sensitive to the color red, cells that best capture greens, and cells that best capture blues. These cells work best together when the spectrum of light they are exposed to (the reds, greens, and blues) is balanced.

When these cells are working best together, the brain is more efficient at processing the visual information being received. Most people don't realize that the standard light they are accustomed to is actually "yellow light" because certain frequencies are missing from the spectrum.

Verilux® lights use spectral power distribution (spd) to enhance the clarity and contrast of your task, project or reading material. This is accomplished through the use of neodymium - a rare but natural earth element that filters out this excessive yellow that our eyes are most sensitive to.
